I keep coming back to this. Vocals are precursor to Archspire percussive staccato vocal style. Not the only band to do that but still really good.
Crisp playing & crunchy mix that doesn’t sound generic.
Reminds me of how every band & song sounded different on “…death is just the beginning volume 2” in 1992.
Technology can improve sound but can also make bands sound the same.
The same attitude & uniqueness is part of the appeal of punk and black metal. imprint

I can't formally retract the erroneous 2.0 I gave this back in 2018, but I can say that, five years on, I've come around to this record in a big way. Quality death metal with great atmosphere without being "atmospheric" (read: boring) metal. Diabolus in Muzaka
